Bio

 

Karen Stone graduated Lanier County High in 1973, married her high school sweetheart John in June 1973. They have three children, daughter Angela, son John David and daughter Barbara (BB). They have five granddaughters Lindsay 19, Shelby 19, Taylor 18, Jessie 11 and Josie 4, one grandson John Michael 14.

Karen graduated from Georgia Military College in May 1999 Magna Cum Laude with an Associate in Science degree. Next she attended Georgia Southern University graduating Cum Laude with Bachelors in Science Degree in Family & Consumer Sciences Education. Karen taught at Brooks County High from August 2001 to May 2005. In June 2005 she attended Cambridge College in Boston graduating Magnum Cum Laude in May 2006 with a Master’s in Education. She started work at Echols County High in August 2005.

Karen is Serve Safe Certified and a proctor for the Serve Safe Test. She trained with Art Institute Culinary School out of New York and received her culinary endorsement in 2013. She worked six months at the Bistro in Valdosta and was a part time short order cook for the Double WW in Stockton for 6 years. She is the Culinary Arts teacher at Echols County High where students train in The Riverside Café learning lifelong skills. Karen is also the WBL (Work Based Learning) and YAP coordinator, and the FCCLA (Family Career & Community leaders of America) advisor.
